Overview of the treatment of alcoholism: To interpret is the treatment of alcoholism, we have to define which is called alcoholism. Alcoholism, also known as "alcohol dependence syndrome" is a disease characterized by the following elements:

  • Craving: the desire or need strong and compulsive drinking.
  • Loss of control: the frequent inability to stop drinking once a person has begun.
  • Physical dependence: the occurrence of symptoms after withdrawal symptoms such as vomiting, sweating, shakiness, and anxiety when they stop drinking after a period of alcohol consumption in large quantities. These symptoms are usually relieved when he turns to drink alcohol or take any other sedative drug.

Alcohol abuse differs from alcoholism in that it does not include the desire or compulsion to drink alcohol, loss of control or physical dependence.
